If anyone thinks cosplaying is childish and dumb, please watch this.

It’s so much more than that.  This video is beyond words…at several parts I actually started crying because everyone is just having fun and not caring whether or not people think they’re weird or strange or anything.  Every person here is beautiful and fantastic and hilarious and just…oh god…

I’m sorry gosh I’m crying so hard right now I can’t believe I almost gave this up because I felt awkward and stupid and isolated and I desperately wanted to fit in with everybody else.  But because of this video…I don’t feel so alone anymore.

Cosplaying has become a huge part of my life, and I don’t think I could stop even if I wanted to.  I’ve never met such nice, happy people who are comfortable in their own skin and in their interests.  This community has changed the way I live and the way I view myself.

I don’t care that I may be judged or defined by what I like and what I do.

Thank you to who made this video.  I’ve been struggling with parents and family looking down on me because I’m interested in cosplaying, and this has convinced me not to give up on what I love.

(now excuse me while i go get some tissues…)

I loved the part with Dad and Mindfang :D And I loved the STRength cosplayer (Girl with humongous claws) 

I have so many feelings for my community. ;n; I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH. 

Sometimes I think “Wow, dang, I want to be a cosplayer, a great one, it would be so much fun”

But then I remember that I am short, fat, with a scarred face and dark skin.

So I just give up on life

Why let that stop you? 

Mascot costumes can be made to fit anyone inside, take Gyarados there!  I’ve made plenty of costumes in non-human shapes that can hide just about anyone small or flexible enough inside, doesn’t matter what they look like, because now they’re a bubble-blowing dinosaur or a luggage chest with a dozen legs!

There’s no reason you can’t dress up and have a good time of it, naysayers be damned.  Plus, if it worries you enough then there’s always facial prosthetics, latex masks, armour and helmets, space suits.. Really big wigs.. Makeup in the right hands can work wonders.  Imagination is the only limit.  Well, and money I guess.

Beyond all the drama and stupid fandom fights, this is what it’s all about guys.

You see, I went through this telling myself not to cry, that over the course of my life I have made at least one cosplay as good as some of the lesser ones featured here.

And they’re only going to get better.

My camera work, however, will never in a thousand years with very expensive cameras and jibs be that good, so I should just focus on the costuming.

Hey don’t be so sure - this was my first attempt at filming like this, and while I wouldn’t call the gear cheap, it’s not super pro level by a country mile!  Going to do a writeup on how to film them, for people interested :)
